Default Megan Headers Blown!! Time to port the OE ones.

I had the Megans on for around 2 years and they have been, maybe, a little better breathing at the top end over my old ported OE headers.

Took the car for the test and it failed on emissions. The readings suggested either a knackered o2 sensor or a blow somewhere. As I had wrapped these really well, there was very little noise until the wrap was removed.

Cracked in 4 places!! All around the collector.

Now, other than the cracks, whats this all about? have a look at the extremely deformed upper pipe. It wasnt like this when I fitted them.

So I have now ported some OE headers. I was thinking about welding the inner pipe of the cross pipe to its flange before porting. Anyone done this?
My thinking is that I still have a little lip there but I doubt that the airflow even touches it.

And the weapon of choice

I'm hoping that the OE ones and my new 2" uppipe, cheers GazzaSti, deliver a little better performance with my VF29.

Anyway, dont buy cheap headers. It cost me £250 for the headers and £60 -70 for wrap. In the bin they go!!

The new uppipe and OE headers stand me at £120 including gaskets and wrap!!

Alledgedly, Over wrapping the headers can cause fatigue & cracking, There was a post a while back about this.
