Cool Where did all my horses go?

Just completed the last mods to my MY00 UK and I'm gutted. Headers and Walbro 225lph fuel pump cost me a bit to say the least and I'm still only putting out mid 220bhp! The dyno shows the tiny little TD04 is losing boost pretty early and dropping to 0.6bar after 5000rpm! If I fit a TD05 16g or an IHI VF35 will this get me many more horses?

Did you get it mapped to make the most of the headers??

Nope, doing that when I change the Turbo. It's taken it to nearly 250lb/ft torque already which fells like a huge difference.

You won't get the benefit until the remap mate! At the moment your ECU is trying it's best to keep boost and fueling etc within std parameters, thus negating the potential gains. The Td04 is a small turbo and has to reduce boost at high rpm so it doesn't overheat; it's the trade off for v. good response. A VF35 pulls all the way to the redline in return for a slightly higher boost threshold and nominally slower response.

My My99 makes 320bhp on it and 316ft lbs torque (with supporting mods)

That's great, thanks. Will I notice a big difference in pulling power when I change the TD04 for a VF35?

Yep! Mine peaks at 1.35 bar. Makes a difference!

Slightly later delivery, bigger wallop!

That about covers it!

You will notice a massive difference, I did on a MY00 with a VF35, my peak boost is 1.55 bar and it now goes like a rocket!
