Can you swap a TD04 for TD05 ?
I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza WRX SA (Auto Box) Jap Import 220bhp with around 55k miles on the clock.
I have had various work done at Roger Clark Motorsport including a RMS center & back box conversion.
I had in the past a WRX 1995 manual 260bhp which I felt was really quick!
The SA Wagon has lots of go @ 2500rmp but runs out of power at 5k revs ish.
I have been told it is the TD04 that is very small and that is how the car is.
If I fit a TD05 will I need to do any further modification ??
Plus will the Auto box take any extra power ??

not sure about the slush box and the effects of a larger turbo but in order to fit the larger TD05 you would be wise to include supporting mods which would include larger injectors plus a mappable ECU

Hi Varboy, I have been told the ECU will ajust to the TD05 with no remap ?
do you know if the WRX 260bhp has the same injectors as the 220bhp model ?

1st point - don't know, check with Simon AKA Jolly Green Monster who posts here, he knows his onions.
2nd point, I would say yes, problem is that a well mapped TD05 could see you past 300bhp, don't know how much headroom that would leave you with standard injectors, again, someone will pipe in no doubt

*use the search* most people on here will and have suggested to firstly replace your tdo4 to a tdo5 (straight swap) then secondly replace your current ecu to a z4 ecu (Best boost map for your car with tdo5 plus your current injectors i believe!)
as i was plannig on taking the same route with my wrx wagon, however i decided to give an esl chip a try
