Default WHATS THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN A RED STI INLET AND A NORMAL TURBO INLET MANIFOLD

As above,is there any point changing my uk turbo inlet for an sti red one.I have a version 5 and have the chance to get one from a p1.Would there be any change in performance.I will be fitting a built 2.5 using my own heads with v5 sti cams soon (if i ever find any) would the sti inlet be any benefit to me or is it just the nice red paint job that is differant.Any info would be greatfull, thanks

There's no difference...

The red manifolds were supposedly polished, but I've had mine off and it's full of casting marks so I'd say that's untrue.

the only difference is the paint. Carl davey will do you a red one for £65 exchange. (you pay £100 and get £35 back when you send your old one back) if you get the P1 one I bet the paint will fall off b4 you get it fitted.
regards ken

If you have a WRX and are changing to an STI, then yes there is a difference as the STI manifold is quite a bit higher to allow more room for the inlet of a front entry turbo.

I used to have a classic WRX which had a 90 degree turbo which i converted to fit a front entry turbo and had to use spacers for the inlet tract to be able to be fitted.

Would have been easier fitting the STI manifold but they have a different throttle position sensor which i couldnt be assed wiring
