Default Z5 ECU Query

Hi All,

I've not long had a 96 Type RA direct from the land of the rising sun.

It has a Z5 ECU.

1) is it mappable?
2) What sort of BHP is it capable of?
3) Is it standard for the car?

Just a little background on the car. The kid in Japan has been doing something harsh in it as it has come over stripped out, roll caged, plastic bonnet, bigger radiator, coil over's, strut braced front and rear, sequential boost controller and more besides. I can't imagine he hasn't had it set up properly and was wondering about the ECU generally.

PS 4) Assuming it's been set up properly, would the change of UK fuel alone warrant a re map or will V Power be fine on it's own? It goes like a train with no problems engine wise, apart from blowing the big ends at Donnington... Doh

Lots of queries here, sorry. Can you number your answers as above please

1) with the new ESL board yes
2) how long is a piece of string, depends on your budget and what supporting mods you add.. if just as is then around the 300 mark on standard injectors etc..
3) yes standard ecu for that model

Sorry.. as said v-power is your best bet..

as you lost an engine I would check the ecu to see if there is a chip fitted.. the jap chips are often very agressive.

the ESL board is for phase 1 yes 93~96.

They are available now yes, I have put some info in the "Subaru classic" tuning section of my basic website Jolly Green Monster - ECU Mapping with a link to ESL's website which I believe is updating very soon with more info.

Thanks
Simon
