Default WHAT HAPPENS IF???

I've just been speaking to a chap who ownes a 1994 Pulsar GTI-R import and since 1999 he has been putting 95 unleaded in it, how come he can get away with putting cheapy fuel in and i have to put in V power ?

Is it just the scoobies that are sensative to everything? or what kind of damage could he have caused

Any info wil be great as it would be great to tell him the bad news after he's bought me a drink

my 93wrx used to get fed 95 unleaded (supermarket quality) on a regular basis without problems. Still use it occasionaly with a power fc fitted and mapped for 97 super with no problems. Can feel a slight difference but no noticeable increase in knock activity.

I was undeer the impression that it causes internal damage if you use 95 ron juice?

Only if you drive it like it has V power/Tescos 99 ron in it.
I've fed mine 95 ron (texaco i think) and off boost it was fine but on boost it wasn't particularly happy (93 wrx standard ecu)

OK so if he starts to put in V power in the car from now on, then it will be fine? no damage done for the past 8 years on 95 ron?

gtir totally different animal with the ecu etc, when I had mine I had no probs running it on 95 ron (this was in 1999) that was slightly modified with some dp motorsport cams and slight boost increase and that didnt miss a beat. Dont really know to much though about the engine management though in the gtir to give as a definitive answer though, maybe check out the gtir site

my mates gti-r decided to kill a piston on 95ron fuel but its probably luck of the draw and how they are treated as to how long they can put up with it for.

it might just be as you said he drives like an old lady or the internals could have been reworked in japan as you can never tell whats been done to the inside of the engine and he might be lucky but as said my mate used optimax when he could be botherd to get it and just stuck murco in and after a spirited drive the rest is history and that was on standard boost.
