Is my ally flywheel making my prop chatter?
Hi, ever since i rebuilt my engine i get a chattering noise on de-acceleration and as soon as i rest my foot on the throttle it goes the only way i can explain it is its like a exhaust sheild vibrating. Has anyone come across this and or knows a way to stop it if not im going to drill holes in the prop and fill it with expanding foam lol

If you're running a light flywheel you will have lost some of the damping of the natural pulses as the engine runs. This is more noticable at low engine speeds, smoothing-out as the revs rise. On the overrun the engine is being forced to run by the car and the effect of turning a "dead" engine could accentuate the pulses. The chatter is most likely coming from the gearbox.

Its probably the clutch if its an uprated one - some give a bit of a 'jangle' - nothing to worry about, unless it annoys you!

Its good to hear thats others have the same problem, im still going to drill a small hole each end of the prop and fill it with expanding foam and then tape the holes and drive it to take the ring out. I'll let you know how i get on.

right I had this with mine there is a little bearing in the fly wheel and when you put it back to gather you probley knocked the bearing and it is cockeyed the spline from the tranny sits in it at the end of the shaft mine did the same thing we took it off put a new one in and it was mint

Funny you say that when i took the engine out after i rebuilt it i noticed the bearing had been almost pushed out the back, I might have a look if i can be arsed to take the box out for the third time lol

That spigot bearing supports the gearbox input shaft. If it's not doing its job, the shaft will flex and vibrate as the clutch is engaged as the friction disc is splined to this. If it is at fault you've got to bite the bullet and prepare for another weekends work!
