Default water/head problems on a legacy tt model advice needed !

got the chance of a 94 legacy estate gt twin turbo for 500 quid ! it has had the head gaskets done but not skimmed. now, the guy said it warms up pretty quick and the starts spewing water out of the rad/overflow...is this just a fecked thermostat/waterpump problem ?? the engine is out and i can get it home no bother . any possible ideas on what is causing this ??

If it warms much quicker than normal that may suggest a problem with the head gasket you may also get bubbles in the header tank quickly. Thermostat wouldn’t show signs until the motor has been running for a while as the temp would rise slower.

Possible the water pump, this could have caused the failure in the first place, run a pressure test on the water system this will give you a better idea.
