Default STI TYPE R VER 6 - IDLE PROBLEMS CUTTING OUT

CAR WAS DRIVING FINE ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED TO CUT OUT UNLESS I GAVE IT LOADS OF GAS ALSO LOSS OF POWER IT DOESN’T START UP ON THE KEY UNLESS I HAVE MY FOOT DOWN THE GAS.

WHEN I DO GIVE IT GAS IT DOESN’T SOUND NORMAL SOUNDS ROUGH AND BUMPY REVS UP 3,000 + UP TO 4-5K

CAR DOES DRIVE BUT LACK OF POWER AND HAVE TO KEEP REVING IT TO KEEP IT ALIVE I THOUGHT IT MY BE THE MAS SO I UNCLIPED THE CABLE TO THE SENSOR TO SEE IF IT MADE A DIFFRENCE – NONE.

BUT THE CEL CAME ON AND OFF AGAIN ONCE I RECONNECT THE CABLE TO THE MAS

WHEN I LINK THE TWO BLACK WIRES FOR THE ECU TEST I GET

2 LONG 3 SHORT FLASHES 23 – MAS Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit
MAYBE AN OLD FAULT DUE TO ME DISCONNECTING THE MAS CABLE

GOT A REPLACEMENT MAS FROM A FRIEND 90% SURE THIS ONE ISNT FAULTY.
THAT DIDN’T FIX THE PROBLEM...

MAYBE A VAC PIPE HAS COME LOSE SOMEWHERE..?

I CUDNT SEE ANYTHING I TRIED MOST OF THE PIPES.

ANY IDEAS OF SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE WELCOME

INFO ABOUT THE CAR.

Maybe one of your intercooler pipes has come loose or the hosing has a split in it somewhere. Was this car not listed on ebay not so long back?

fit a known working MAF..

as said intercooler pipe, or vacuum pipe or the inlet pipe has come off the turbo, split in it between MAF and turbo..

i have found two things unattached one near the top of the inlet manifold
near where the spark plug leads go.. just under number 4 lead.

looks clean as if a pipes recently come off but i cant see a unattched pipe hanging about anywhere.

this is also not connected.. near the air intake towards the front of the car.

does anyone know of anybody local to yorkshire huddersfield who could have a look at it for me.
