Default Idle Problem

I have been having a problem with my idle for a while, the old story of dropping down at junctions then bouncing back up to normal.

However, by problem has got a whole lot worse today.

Having fitted my new Apexi induction kit (in place of my pipercross kit) the revs now sit at 2000-2500, then drop and hunt between 1500-2000...then my CEL light comes on and i have a misfire.

Noramlly i'd guess either an air leak or wrong induction kit.....but both my brother and friend have fitted the same induction kit to their WRX's in the last few weeks without any problems, and the is no leak to be found.
Have also tried with 2 different MAF sensors, but no difference with either.

All i can guess is idle control sensor.

Any other suggestions?

Have you checked the fault codes at all (www.scoobypedia.co.uk)?
I had a similar problem and I replaced the MAF sensor and oxygen sensor still did it then 1 day it stopped and behaved itself
The Apexi IK may have brought thre problem to light earlier as i do believe it does flow very well (i've run 1 for 2 years but is fine)

Quick edit also changed the ICV still did it but as i said suddenly i day stopped.

Hi Gary

Have a very similar issue on my car. There is a thread dealing with possible solutions to the issue which I'll try dig up for you. Which ECU are you running? Also did you get my PM and are you guys open tomorrow?

Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys.

Just taken the ICV off and given it a quick clean and it seems to be behaving itself now, although need to give it a proper test drive tomorrow as the boost seemed a bit low.

DesR - just had a look at your pm. Yeah thats fine, just make a note on the form and stick it in the post
