Default Turbo question

A mate of mine runs a 02 bugeye wrx and is planning on fitting a new turbo from a 03 blobeye sti. In the future hes is planning the mods to support this, injectors, mapping etc, but wants to know wether he can run it for now on his relatively standard car?
Would this be ok or would he suffer any adverse affects?

He needs to have it mapped if he's changing the turbo as it's going to push a different amount of air in.

If he doesn't have it remapped, my guess is that he will burn a piston or suffer some other engine related failure pretty sharpish :-)

would be fine to run it off boost but best to limit that until it is mapped.
