Default Question on a engine swap???

Hi,
Will any subaru impreza engine fit into the classic model i.e V4/5/6 STI, or maybe the V7/8.
I have the RA gearbox etc, and its a 1994 import?
Many thanks
Ian

92~98 will be fine if you use your turbo, and your coil packs and your inlet manifold.. on the original ecu there is a large amount of work needed to get it to run a straight 97~98 engine in it.. if you are running an after market ecu you can play around with a little hassle to get it to run the inlet manifold of the 97~98 (TPS sensor wiring is different).

The 99 onwards engine has different cam wheel triggers (possibly crank trigger points, not sure), different idle control (stepper motor rather than valve), the ignitor is part of the coil rather than separate on your car and the inlet manifold from your car will not fit as the head casting is different and the inlet won't fit.

Your best replacement if you want a complete engine would be a long engine from 92~98 car and fit your inlet manifold complete and your coil packs if it is a 97~98.
