Cool PPP or not?! + Other Upgrades

Just bought a 05 Plate Wrx with only 10k on.. (pick up at weekend) nice free servicing pack and warrenty etc. The dealer can get me a PPP for 1k.. do I do this or am i better spending 1k elsewhere? I like the idea of a standard approved Kit which does not invalidate the warrenty etc.. and at 1K its obv cheaper than it should be.

just after ideas.. want to keep some economy and reliabilty so im not after huge BHP etc as i use the car daily for work

what other upgrades would people recommend for the cars, ive noticed people mentioning whiteline drop links or something etc etc.. Also how do you do that Te Tango mod for the headlights?

cheers

Leon

A powerstation stage 2 handling kit is good value, allows you to make more use of the power the car already has. (PowerStation) Of course, that would likely have warranty issues. At the least tho get a proper four wheel alignment done by a specialist like powerstation for about £100, well worth it

When PPP was £1600 then the deciding factor was whether you wanted to keep the warranty even thought the price was a little high.

At £1000 there is no argument - a mild remap, back box, 3rd decat, IC hose AND fitting AND a warranty will be very difficult to beat.

As for a handling upgrade, a cheap option is to fit an STi rear anti roll bar (£40/50) with whiteline drop links (wire type £40) plus a decent alignment as above.

Talking :-)

looks like il get the PPP then asap before they change there mind! im going to keep the car for a fair few years so the cost is worth it i think.

If these handling modifications do make a noticable difference il probably look into getting one in a year when the warrenty runs out.

I said i would never buy from a dealer again! but ive been looking for a while and this car is like new inside and out, 10k miles is nothing and with free servicing no running costs for 2 years :-) cant wait now! its been 3 weeks since i sold my MY99 Turbo and ive had to borrow cars all over the place!

Leon,
Dealers are pretty OK with mild modifications for warranty claims and I can't see what I mentioned above being an issue.
Have a chat with your dealer about it first though.

Leon, i was in a similar position to you about haveing the PPP fitted. Although i know no better than the other options available, in my opinion the PPP is well worth it. It really does make the car a different animal and you will enjoy the difference.

I am also looking a Prodrive springs and the drop links also

I'd snap that offer up quick before they change their mind. I've been pondering about getting mine ppp'd, but for a grand i'd take it in no time!!

Im going to ring and order tommorow :-) ... I will let you know how it goes and i hope its still available for the same price! They dont have one available to try out with a PPP, but i drove one a while back and I remember it was a noticable improvement on my old MY99 Turbo where as my new WRX "feels" slower so i should notice a big difference. Im hoping it will feel similar to the Sti that i nearly bought as PPP is quicker on paper!
