Boost Fluctuation with AVCR
Hi
I installed an AVCR on my 03 WRX yesterday.
It makes target boost no problems at all but once boost is made, rather than holding the boost fluctuates from about 1.3+ to about 0.9bar. It's not spikey in any way, more a 2sec cycle between max and lower boost.
It's only evident in gears 4 & 5 (probably because boost is held longer in these gears at WOT??)
What is going on???
D/C is 75%

what is your target boost set to?
usually it is sometimes a case of adjusting the boost levels and the duty cycle but one at a time.
with mine when it was being mapped using the avcr it wouldnt get 1.2bar with it set to 1.2 bar. We had to lower the boost but increase the duty a bit and no it holds it no problem. That was on a classic

if you increase the duty slightly (1% at a time) does it over boost?
also turn the learn on and see what it alters.. if you are driving and playing you might be finding it difficult to see.. so turn the learn on and see if it increases or decreases the duty at rpm that it fluctuates etc..
I would assume the duty is too low and the boost is dropping off..

OK
I started from fresh and managed to hit a target of 1.25bar in 4th at about 65% DC.
This seems to have got rid of the oscilation problem in 4th at least, I will need a longer stretch of tarmac to test in 5th.
I set Start Duty as follows:
1st + 12
2nd + 8
3rd + 4
4th 0
5th - 4
I may need to lower 3rd as I overboosted to 1.45bar.
What I am noticing now is that I'm not getting that ultra quick spool that I got when I first fitted the device and still in 4th, the pick up though largely linear does not feel as solid a pick up as it did pre the AVCR.
Any recommendations on how I can play around some more?
