STI2 ENGINE IN AN STI3
Will it fit ?
What would i need to change?
Failing that what about an sti5 engine?

Physically it will fit but it is not an easy swap unless you stick with the STi ver 2 inlet manifold.
Your ver 2 car has individual coil packs on each plug and the STi 3 has a coil pack mounted on the inlet manifold and 4 plug leads so in this respect the wiring harness is different and the STi 3 and ver 2 STi ECUs are different.
OOPS: Other way round. Use the manifold specific to the car. The bottom ends are interchangeable but your run into wiring harness problems if you change the inlet manifolds. ie. use the STi 3 inlet manifold.

Thanks Harvey
So if i use my sti3 inlet manifold ,injectors and engine wiring loom it'll do the job yes.
Is there no difference to the bellhousing bolt configuration then?

STi 2 engines and gearboxes are interchangeable. STi 2 engine will go on an STi 3 if you use the STi 3 inlet manifold.
The rev limit on the STi 2 will be less than on the STi 3 and I think the STi 2 has hyrdaulic lifters but the STi 3 is solid.
Better to look for an STi 3 or 4 engine.
