Default Piston slap???

Hi all ive recently purchased a 96 uk turbo 2000 with 90k on the clock, which is in great condition in and out but i have noticed it does have a knock from cold. After doing searches on piston slap i am guessing this is the problem, but i thought id see what you guys think before i take it to the garage on Saturday.
Basically there is a tapping/clonking noise when i first pull off from cold. It doesnt do it on idle, nor when im coasting along, only when ive got my foot on the accelerator.
It sounds abit like a tractor to be totally honest, i didnt notice it when i got the car but maybe thats because the engine was warm when i got there.
The problem does seem to go after the car has warmed up after say 5-10 minutes, does this sound like piston slap to you guys?
Ive heard tappets mentioned and belt tensioners too, would these have different symtoms? Im changing the oil and adding slick 50 to be sure
Thanks in advance, Paul

possibly tappets... but even if it is piston slap DO NOT go to the garage as you can get 1000's and 1000's of miles with no effect other then wat you have described..
