Default Engine replacement

Hi all,

I have a damaged engine in my 94 WRX turbo and I am looking for a replacement. My question is now, can I take a phase 1.5 engine and mate it with my existing phase 1 intake manifold? I want to keep the swap as easy as possible, so keeping existing turbo, intake manifold, injectors etc would be the easiest, but I need to know if that is possible.

Thanks in advance

Rasmus

Are your existing heads damaged?

If not,you can put them on any 2.0 short motor and that will work.

any ej20G/H/R/K longmotor will pop right in. your intake manifold will bolt directly to the heads. a jap spec twin turbo longmotor (ej20H/R) is a good choice for a cheap replacement, as many come from automatic cars and nobody wants the twin turbo system anyway.

Be careful. The wiring harness from a ver 1 WRX M/Y 93-96is different to a ver 1.5 M/Y 97/98.
The inlet manifolds are interchangeable but the ver 1 runs four coilpacks but ver 2 runs DIS with four plug leads from the coil pack mounted on the inlet manifold.
