Induction kits
What is the general opinion of induction kits... Which ones are the ones to steer clear of and who makes the good ones...?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I am on a bit of a budget

First thing people will say is not to bother (unless you're getting a front mount intercooler) and you want to run high power (350+ i think).
If you do want one K+N are highly regarded and Apexi in my opinion (i have 1 fitted to my 93wrx BUT i'm building a heat sheild and going to wrap various other parts).
Depends on what year your car is as well (the early MAFS are quite robust).

I have an APS CAK which sits in my wing, it sounds fantastic but then again it was mapped in along with the FMIC and a few other toys. But I hear you can't buy them anymore.

Like Wurzel said you do need to get the car mapped for those.

I'm gonna mirror what others have said. Unless you particularly want the noise or you plan to run 330BHP don't bother there's no need. A panel filter will do as good.
If you do go for a induction kit, get a dry filled one like an Apexi or HKS.
Oiled filled filters such as K&N or Pipercross can caused the MAF to fail, and engines go bang.
That said you MAF (early version 1 and 2's) are more robust and can take alittle more abuse.

How, because the ESL and ScoobyECU chips are around £200, but the Apexi Power FC is over £800 fitted.....

I do think jiff got that slightly wrong the esl/scoobyecu are very reliable (do a search on here) but the Apexi power fc has a greater deal of flexibilty which i think would be better if you fit the APS CAK imo.
The Power Fc is £800 fitted and mapped and can easily be remapped if you fit bigger injectors, fmic etc whereas i'm not too sure about the esl/scoobyecu

If you're happy with advice yuo get from him and people on here who've had a remap with the Power FC just save up for it.

Up to over 350 bhp on a Classic and more on a New Age, you may as well stick with the O/E air box.
The difference in performance between the O/E Subaru and various aftermarket pannel filters is negligible in terms of air flow or power. The O/e Subaru is actually not a bad filter.
In terms of filtration, some of the after market leave a lot to be desired.
