Default Newage tuning

Hi
has anyone used Jolly Green Monster for a "from £300" tune?
If so how do you rate them and do you need to anything else i.e. with the exhaust.

Cheers

Dave

You don't "need" to do anything. But then there's very little point in remapping.

The standard exhaust is known to be restrictive, so that's usually the first point of call when modifying for more power; getting a less restrictive system.

What are your plans?

don't know what my plans are really, I would have the Prodrive kit if I could afford it, but my mate has just had his Honda chipped for £350 and gained about 30BHP, which is more affordable. I'm just testing the water really!
Cheers
Dave
BTW I have a 55 plate, so any of this (except the Prodrive kit) would invalidate the warranty I suppose?

If a word, "yes", but in real terms, not really. Many a dealer will ignore exhaust/turbo/fuel pump/air filter/wheel mods if say the struts knock or similar.

If the engine blows up and you've done mods, then obviously they'll want nothing to do with it. But the best mappers will keep the car well within the safety limits.

I've changed all 4 struts and a battery about 3 times under warranty. Regardless of mods. So this whole warranty issue, is hyped a little.

If your car is standard, then lOOk at a decat/sports cat exhaust (£400-800). Walbro 255 fuel pump (£82), green panel filter (£40), then your remap.

That will see you circa 330bhp, about 40 more than the PPP, for less money too. Alternatively take it to a tuner for a package, ala Powerstation, Zen, TSL.

eBay.co.uk: SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi DE CAT DOWNPIPE EXHAUST DECAT (item 220090578472 end time 16-Mar-07 14:15:25 GMT)

Would this do the job? Would I want 2.5" or 3" & where around the Chester area could I get it fitted?
Cheers

I'm not too sure on your question about the downpipe but a place in chester I always use is Graham Walkers by Chester City football ground. They always sort me out anything I need. for my general Subaru servicing I use D.M Performance in Rossett by The Grosvenor hotel. Hope this helps.

Ditto. Simon is a decent bloke who is refreshingly devoid of airs and graces and has time and advice for all.

The prodrive exhaust (esp sportcat) is supposed to be pretty damn good. I doubt you'll need to change that. It's more just the custom mapping needed, you have the parts.

Unless...you're going for 350+, then you may want to consider a 3" system, turbo, headers and the like.

If i were you i'd just remap the PPP. That will see you good for another 25bhp officially, realistically, 30-45bhp.
