Bugeye WRX 52 plate cel came on then i stopped and started the car 6 times in hope that it would go out and it did,

You will have to get it plugged into an OBD II scanner of some sort and read the code from the ECU. When the light has gone off sometimes the ecu stores them as past faults and sometimes it doesnt, so you may find there's no code at all. Shop around to see if you can get a free ecu read, dealers sometimes charge up to 50quid to just read it ! but most garages have readers now
