The AVC-R is a very effective boost controller and will allow you to control gear dependent boost settings, so you can hold closer to your target boost in the lower gears, worthwile mod IMO

Is this a stand alone unit which works independantly then? Will the ecu compensate the fuelling to what boost the engine is running via Avcr?

Yes it does work independently from the ECU, I wouldn't up the boost to higher than what the car has been mapped to...
However the ECU cannot control the Duty settings as well as the AVC-R..... The AVC-R will increase the duty as is specified to allow the amount of boost needed, the fuelling will be mapped via the ECU... which is why the AVC-R will allow the target boost in lower gears.

To follow on from this question if the car has been mapped for say 1.5bar and then you run 1bar via the AVC-R will it be overfueling alot? or will the ecu intelligently alter the fuel accordingly?

the reduced boost and therefore load would mean the ecu would traverse the fuel and ignition tables less.. whcih if set up properly when mapped will have the correct fuel and ignition for that lower level of boost so no it shouldn't over fuel.

I see, excelent, so the AVC-R is a nice addition to the car allowing to control the boost upto a pre set max !

thanks

Yes.. just need to be very careful as if the car is mapped to say 1.3bar and you add a boost control to the same level it might boost sooner in the rev range by a small amount with the better boost control but as it was not mapped that way it might be lean or iginition too advanced.. or hold the boost for longer at higher rpm etc..

You ideally need at least knock link or detcans to check it.. even better to check the fuelling too with a wideband.

however if you get the map tweaked you would be able to take advantage of the better boost control.. if previously mapped to a flat boost profile you could now have it mapped to run more boost in the mid-range and tail off for example.. depends on the set up you have etc..
