Thumbs up New V9 Crank Shopping results!

Since my V5 STi suffered engine failure I've been shopping around for parts to build her back up and first on the list was the Better Crank (extra main bearing oil galleries).

Here are the prices for you to make your own decisions.. Zen Performance came out top for me and API being the dearest

Prices + VAT

1. £350 Zen Performance
2. £375 Lateral Performace
3. £378 Graham Goode racing
4. £400 API Tuning

Feel free to add more good sources
Hope this helps.

Prices changed at all lately?

Are these cranks only from JDM STi9s or UK ones too?

Bog standard cheapo crank not nitrided.

Nitrided is only JDM car from my experience. Now price is £325.00 + VAT here.

I wouldent have said a "cheapo" crank. Is the standard Subaru 79mm one not as good as the other standard 75mm cranks ? Alot of people running over 500bhp on on standard cranks that arent Nitrided, Is there an issue with the 2.5 Litre one ???????

No-No, just a turn of phrase to make people realise that all 2.0 cranks barring nitrided are the same. So a 2.0 anything uses the same crank. There are stories about STi cranks being hand selected at first build, but all of the rest of us just fit whatever comes in the box and check bearing clearances. If they are cnc manufactured there should be no differences anyway.

2.5 cranks all appear to be low tolerance, as when we measure, they all come up at the far end of what is acceptable. Every one we have ever checked is like it, so they must be the way they are made. A bit loose for my liking, but never a problem on any we have built.
