Default Air Conditioning - MY93

Hello all.

I need your help again.

I have one more problem to fix. I am assuming the AC compressor is ok. Can I recharge the system myself?

Thanks.

In a word no you can't re-charge a 93 air con as it used R12 gas which is now illegal we now use 134a or 125 gas which was used on about my 94-95 cars onwards the R12 gas and the now used 134a or 125 gas have different properties and you will need the later compressor and sealing rings also the whole system will have to be flushed out so no contamination occurs it can be an expensive job best bet is speak to some aircon specialists and see what they say you will be able to pick up all the later aircon gear on here as a lot of people remove it for weight and power lose gains .
Hope this helps

Mark

Dan, phone an air con specialist and ask them about an r12 replacement. I can't remember the name of the gas but there is a replacement that works without the need to change anything else.

RS-24 is a direct replacement , but dearer than R134a so recharge would be dearer..

are you sure it is not R134A now tho as if its a 93 this is a changeover point .
take cap off service port (carefully with safety gigs on)if thread is on inside probably R134A
if on outside probably R12.
