cheers i have done that many a times, just wondered if there is another method. mine is a classic 1999, the icv is located just below the top mount intercooler, 2 screws which go into the manifold, and has a black connector in it!!!! I would imagine others should be around there or there abouts.

Replace it with one from a scrapppies. Sounds like the air cut valve inside your IACV is knackered, and I promise you there is absolutely no way of fixing it if it's gone.

Mine runs at 1500 RPM when cold, think they all do, what is the idle like when warm?

mine idles at 1400rpm cold and usually about 600 - 700 warm, i had replaced the maff tried the reset of ecu via the connectors under dash but didnt work so disconnected the battery for an hour then bingo idling fine, it was the maf after all that.
