my my05 sti was parked next to my cousins 01wrx yesterday and it made me think my car was actually crystal grey and not premium silver so i checked my paint code and there both the same but the colour diffrence is like night and day. is there an explination?

 

hi. this was taken from the glasurit web site (glasurit are a manufacturer or car paint refinishes). you can see in the bottom right hand corner that there are currently 4 different variants of your colour, each one will differ from the others quite considerably. as new cars are usually painted in batches of the same colour, large vats of colour are mixed. when these run out and new batches of colour are mixed, slight differences in the mixing ratios of the base colours, that make up the finished colour ,can occour, causing differences in the colour of finished cars of the same colour.
