Surley it's worth a gamble for 20 quid......

Had the same problem with a 205 GTi years ago, everyone told me to get the head done....said i'd chance putting some stop leak in it and she powered on for over 12 months until I sold it...

But Could this do damage in a wrx...

I'm awaiting a mail back form the seller....should be funny....will post when I get it...

that twenty quid gamble is a fair few quid towards the head set, if you put that crap in your engine you will probably knacker everything including turbo and heater matrix and then it will sting you a fair bit more

i would say using this is a no no you might end up restricting the flow through radiator and heat matrix and as said previously you dont know what effect it will have on the turbo cooling

if your head gasket is gone, id give it a go personally. if it works for a few months, bonus, if it ***** it out and makes it worst, it cant cost that much more, or just get a replacement engine from grade-a or ebay?

it could cost a whole lot more as it plugs up your entire cooling system then try to clean it all out

If you buy a scoob (or any other vehicle) you must be prepared to pay to maintain it. Putting that crap in your engine will:

a) Probably not fix it
b) Damage other engine components
c) Cost you far more in the long run

Just get it done properly. There is no such thing as a cheap fix!

I personally have tried K Seal in a Mondeo 2.5 V6, but it didnt seem to work.
It was only about £6 too from the local factors.

However, the guy in the unit next door has used it a few times and reckons its good stuff.

I couldn't agree more, they are a expensive to maintain but if you do it right you won't have problems if you take short cuts it will cost you more in the long run?????

1. its not crap its VERY good stuff
2. you offer advice never having tried it
3. some skyline tuners use this to repair cracked blocks apparently
4. it fixed my coolant leak so well last year, that i still have not fitted my new water pump.

i paid around £9 for mine from a small automotive parts shop, the ebay sale is expensive.

22B Bulletin Board: K-Seal

how it works is something to do with a coolant leaking having a higher temp then the surrounding area, this melts the copper in the solution into a permanent weld, apperantly

its very good stuff IMHO

Here's the reply I got from the seller of "stop leak" on ebay...

He reckons it might do the Job...

"Obviously it depends on how bad the leak is. We have sold numerous bottles of this product for this problem ,with excellent feedback. As long as the hole size meets the parameters listed in our listing then this product will work.
It's certainly worth a try!"

Here's a question for the teckies.....what's the average hole size in a head cylinder....Subaru have checked it and said I have no compression at all...

Well Lads do I take the chance or not!!

Either way it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a new engine...

Some replys have inspired confidence in the product...what's this talk of messing up my turbo...is it possible....

If you have no compression where is it going? into the water or oil galleries? If it aint going into the water it wouldnt work anyway... and if it is going into the water then surley the compression will just blow anything that tries to block the hole straight out... and the car has to be running for this stuff to flow and be at the right temp?

Ok this stuff might work on leaks in the water system that escape to the outside of the engine but cant see it working on a HGF.... Just my theory I aint no techie, Yet.

Would'nt bother with it - get the Head Gaskets sorted properly - you dont want to end up with a cracked head/block,sump full of water, oilways clogged with Emulsified Oil,coolant getting into the next cylinder - hydraulic lock- bent rod etc etc.
Just my two pence worth.

Well i was going to get a new engine anyway so i gave it a shot untill i get the new engine. So i put the cooler and pipes back on started the car put it in smoke so bad i couldnt see the house over the road lol car got warm car begain to run like **** foot to floor just keeping it runing then it cleared and ran great an hr later smokes 98% gone no more oil coming out the back. So far so good cars runing great again and going to take it out a bit later to give it a good run and see how it goes, But looking at it now i would say it has fixed my headgasket problem.

Well done for having a go at trying it .

While I'm not advocating this as a proper fix for a head gasket if it keeps the car running for a few extra miles then it can't be a bad thing.

Theres far too much 'if you do that you'll definately blow your engine up and be up the creek ..' on this forum from people who have never attempted doing such things.

They do say that the man who makes no mistakes makes nothing at all.

It may well have messed your engine up but people saying it definately will with no evidence to suggest so do not help.

As I said, good on you for trying it - would be surprised if its still holding in 12 months time but that said even if it gives you just a few more k's then it cant be a bad thing.
