Impreza STi - 10k Service - Recommend me a Dealer!
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if you guys could recommend a dealer for my MY05 STi and its 10k service.
Im from the Bournemouth area, so closer the better.
Sparshatts of Botley wont give me an exact price for labour if i give them the Oil and Filter, and to be honest the £200 they want for the full job seems completely un-reasonable. That is unless an oil change now incurs £100+ labour!
Also, im unsure of whether the Subaru garages would use one anyways... but im gonna get the STi Pink Filter... which Oil should i buy? I only want the best.
Im not about pound pinching... but i do like to ensure i get value.. so sorry if my rant seems out of line, but i just dont see £100+ labour for an Oil and Filter change to be fair.
I also wish for my Service book to be FSSH.
Thanks in advance.

Please quantify this statement? Have you stripped and measured engines before and after prolonged and equal periods on all the 'top' oils? For a start that's not the recommended grade.
Marmski, what kind of use do you plan for the car. Any track days etc..?

Hi Mark,
No track days.. i use the car as an everyday car though.. so some good cold start oil would be nice, that can also cope with the stresses of a good blast every now and then. (if their is such a thing?)
Thanks,

Reasonably certain that the new 2.5's have the same oil reccomendation as the new age 2.0L's i.e 5/40. If not then i stand corrected. Look in your manual to check.
For general, all year round use, i would personally stick with this. If you plan on a power upgrade or track days then 10/40 or maybe even15/50 for heavy use.
You sound as though you want to look after your car. Motul, Millers, Silkolene are generally all highly recommended. Motul 300V you can get in 5/40, not sure about the others.
Oilman has a deal on if you are quick.

I don't have personal experience of the Millers, but 15/50 Motul does give me a bit more oil pressure than the ProR silkolene 15/50. This may or may not be the case in thinner grades.
Scoobyman 95, i am still interested in how you can say Millers is best without any stats etc. to back this up.
