97 turbo 2000 startin to sound a bit noisy under the bonnet , been thinkin about another engine , has normal EJ20 in it will any of the other engines fit without too much trouble eg sti version8 or will it have to be another EJ20 ?

 

sti 8 is not easy to do as the tranny is not the same or the clutch and wiring ecu and lots of other bits it can be done but a real headache

 

If its bottom end noise, your existing heads and ancilliaries will bolt straight on to a new age bottom end.

The gearbox, flywheel and clutch off your existing car will bolt straight on to a new age bottom end.

If you want to use the new age heads then the transplant will be an awful lot of work and expense.
