Default Fuel saving ionisers?

eBay.co.uk: FUEL SAVER FOR SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI TURBO LEGACY + (item 120083840778 end time 16-Feb-07 19:56:00 GMT)

Whats the idea behind these. I know they'll probably never do what they're supposed to, but surely there must be some science behind the them?

theyre all rubbish. There used to be a catalyser that you could get for 70+ quid which i think made a difference. But the magnet ones are useless, dont bother mate.

the best way to save fuel is to a) use less right foot or b) remap usually gives you better fuel once you get over the extra power!

Ahh the weird and amazing wonders of magnets:

Stick them onto something and amazing things happen...put them on your water pipes and you get no scale, put them on your wrist and you don't get travel sick, put them on the fuel rails of a diesel and it gives better mpg, put them on the fuel line of a petrol engine and it also gives better mpg.

Wonder what happens if you attach them to a can of snake oil

I used to sell permanent magnets; for all different sorts of applications, from fridge magnets, to loudspeaker magnets, to TV corrector/focusing rings.

I also sold them for 'health' reasons. We did have plenty of people saying how good they were. Supposedly they 'ionise' the iron in the blood making it absorb oxygen more efficiently!

Draw your own conclusions, however we did have some customers who bought them for pets an even a race horse (who became better after fitting them).

And, no i don't use them!
