Default release bearing

i have a wearing, bearing type noise when the clutch is up. if im in nuetral its constant, but if i press the clutch peddal it stops completly. could this be the release bearing or a gearbox bearing?? fitted new clutch last year with new release and spig bearings. there was no noise prior to the new clutch kit. could it be a duff bearing in the kit? do you need to lube the release bearing before fitting? just put it straight in thinking it would be grease packed, was that wrong?

If it where a gearbox bearing, are these easy to get hold of?

normally the release bearing comes with a pack of grease to apply to it..

you can just about by removing the rubber cover on top of the bell housing get to apply grease with a spray can with a long nozzle.. this is unlikely to cure the problem long term but will statisfy you that it is the release bearing if the noise changes or goes.. it is a pain to reach and you will need a torch and becareful not to get it on the clutch.
