release bearing

i have a wearing, bearing type noise when the clutch is up. if im in nuetral its constant, but if i press the clutch peddal it stops completly. could this be the release bearing or a gearbox bearing?? fitted new clutch last year with new release and spig bearings. there was no noise prior to the new clutch kit. could it be a duff bearing in the kit? do you need to lube the release bearing before fitting? just put it straight in thinking it would be grease packed, was that wrong? :wonder:

If it where a gearbox bearing, are these easy to get hold of?

normally the release bearing comes with a pack of grease to apply to it..

you can just about by removing the rubber cover on top of the bell housing get to apply grease with a spray can with a long nozzle.. this is unlikely to cure the problem long term but will statisfy you that it is the release bearing if the noise changes or goes.. it is a pain to reach and you will need a torch and becareful not to get it on the clutch.
