Default paintwork pepper spots??

my white jap import has tiny brown 'pepperspots' all over it (roof and all panels)
they are 'higher than the paintwork, as I can 'scratch' them off
...is it problem with the paint...rust coming thru?...or maybe some contamination during painting (surely not - I dont THINK its had a respray)

or is it summat else thats affecting the paint now? (I havent had it long so dont know the histor of where its been or parked)

any ideas?

Could it be tar from the road...try Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover, try their website as it talks about the "tar spots" on there.

nah, its not tar, mate
they appear to be hard - almost gritty
seem to be an even spread across the panels too

Default Tar Spots

If they are tar spots the best thing to use is Meguires quick detailer which comes with a putty bar. You wet each panel and use the putty like a rubber and all the tar sticks to it. It takes ages to do the whole car but is well worth it. Afterwards get some layers of polish on it to stop tar sticking so easily. I have found this the easiest way as none of the tar removing products seem to work! Hope its that simple

cheers J.

It could be over spray if you think its been in a bodyshop? Could try some thinners on the dots do it some where low down incase it affects your paint (it shouldn't do but just incase eh) Just try polishing the nuts off it? other than that it could be a flat and polish job? (wet flat the spots of with some fine wet and dry then machine polish it back up.) Thats best done by a bodyshop if u have never done it before?

Is the car kept or parked any where near a train track or under some trees?

The most common causes of this kind of mark are quite often tree sap or a substance given off by trains passing (not sure what it is). Usually comes off with something like tar remover or a clay bar (or t cut).

Hi there what this sounds like to me is (fall out) from a nearby chimley. I have come across this before on many import cars the best way to remove this in my experiance (paint sprayer) is with autoglym wheel acid (red in colour) spray it on wipe it in to agitate leave for 10min retreat and wash off dont worry will not harm paintwork as alloy wheels are painted
