Yes it will be fine. Just be careful when close it, other wise it will go with a bang. I think you can get uprated srings from subaru to stop this but I never bothered.

Thanks for that, can you buy them ready painted or is it best to get one in primer and have it painted ..... have seen them on ebay for £75 ready to paint with a brake light ready in ??

cheers.

It all depends on the weight of the replacement spoiler you get.

I have the OEM STi spoiler on my bugeye WRX with some extra tensioner things...I doubt if the ordainary springs would keep it up as it weighs a ton !

As a guide, the geniuine STi spoiler retails at about £895 so £75 sems a bit cheap to me...I'd stick to a recognised name such as DR motorsport etc for a copy, the same names crop up on scoobynet all the time

Rich

Looks like the extra tensioners not needed then

They are pretty strong !!

I always wondered why I pulled the remote release for the boot catch the bang made the local wildlife dived for cover and any moisture on the top of the spoiler flew over the back of the car like a 1970's Russian shot putter on steriods LOL

I'm currently in the process of getting an 06 or 07 STI and will want to do the opposite. ie replace the big spoiler with something more discreet. I'm also considering the SL or D option but the lip spoiler is a bit too discrete!

Does anyone know if the fixing locations are the same to make it a simple unbolt bolt on exercise?
