WRX Fuel Pump or RS - which is better?

WRX Fuel Pump or RS - which is better?
G'day everyone.
I am having some problems with pulling over 10-12psi with my 91 RS Liberty - stutters/cuts and then drops back and goes again.
I have tried a few things, including swapping the fuel pump with a wrx one - physically a lot smaller than the RS version - but it hasn't fixed the problem. Just goes to show that size may not matter!
Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I have checked the boost control and it is not that. Don't know whether it is starving for fuel or it is an electrical problem
