Default AVCR

I have a Tek 3 on my car, would an AVCR totally control the boost independently from the ECU or would there still some control held by the ECU?

control it totally independently although the over boost function will still remain in the ecu assuming you left the OE MAP sensor plumbed in (which you should).

Would be interested to read of your experiences with AVC-R as I'm going down the same route now, just needing to wire her in...had many ecutek maps but not had in gear boost control before

The ECU goes into safemode alot after constant steady throttle, so full boost is not there when needed. Have to feather the throttle to get full boost. So looking at getting an AVCR to hopefully sort this out. If not will have to go down the road of a new ECU, hopefully not though as finances not there to fund it.

has it always done it?

sounds like a problem that need finding and fixing rather than masking..

do you have a boost gauge fitted?

I assume it is over boosting occasionally and hitting the boost cut?

isnt that a "feature" of ecutek though if you hold the throttle steady for a few seconds in th elower gears that it limits boost?

Sounds like the 'noise drive by limit'

I had this problem - bloody annoying and very dangerous for ages.

On my last remap at Powerstation I talked to Rich about it and he spoke with Mervyn @ Ecutek and then half an hour later of laptop fiddling and the problem has been cured.

I can now hold the rev/hold the boost for a period of time, then boot it and get full boost, not the limited boost like before.

I suggest you go back to whoever mapped the car and get them to call Ecutek for the answer.

Your right mate, is bloody annoying. When you've been driving for a while "normally" it will take ages to get the full boost back. Then it is still intermitent. Glad someone else has been through it and it has been sorted, will speak to my mapper.

Reason i'm looking at the AVC-R is to arradicate this problem once and for all and was wondering if the AVC-R would solve it.

Simb

I'm running a Tek3 and an AVCR on my modded bugeye

The good news is that the boost should always be there....the flip side of the coin is that if the ECU thinks there is a problem and for safety reasons tries to shut the boost down it can't !!

EcuTeK mappers have been wrestling with the "driveby noise limit" boost reduction for a long time......from the above post it sounds like they have cracked it, hopefully.

doesn't sound like the drive by noise boost reduction if it takes a while to come back..
