Hi basically when i start my car in the morning or after work,im getting a loud sqeeking,as if a belt is loose or something...This normally happens if the lights are on and i start her up. The noise will go if i turn the lights off.

If the lights are off and i turn the steering the noise will come back and the steering will be free for about half a turn either way then goes stiff suddenly.

Ive checked the power steering fluid level, and its seems to be fine.

It only makes the noise for a few seconds but i know it shouldnt be doing it at all and the fact that the steering gets stiff is starting to worry me abit.

If the car is warm it will never make the noise unles im stationary and the wheel is on full lock.

Please help

Oh yeah it a MY99 uk 2000 turbo if that makes any difference

Yup .. sounds like your power steering belt is a bit loose. Just needs to be adjusted up (or replacing if old and cracked) and the squeeling will go away.
