Default is a remap needed when fitting a walbro pump

just a quick queatsion i wanna get a walbro pump for future mods, i have a my99 uk turbo with a ecotek 2 chip hks filter rcm decats and pulleys if i change the pump now will it need to be mapped straight away or could i get away with it for a few months

The pressure should still be the same due to the fuel reg controlling it. I would say no to needing a remap but check this out with either Simon (Jolly Green Monster) or AndyF.

FYIW I was advised to take it easy prior to a remap by my mapper with this modification.

Peronally, I'd wait till you've got all your bits together, then fit it and get everything mapped.

I had my Walbro fitted a few weeks in advance of my remap, not problems.

If anything it will run a little rich due to the higher fuel pressure. The OE fuel pressure regulator struggles to return the increased flow rate to the tank and hence the fuel pressure to the injectors can rise, particularly at idle when the engine is consuming very little fuel.
It wouldn't cause a problem in the short term (week or so) but extended use may cause plug fouling, increased fuel consumption and in extreme cases, increased engine wear due to bore wash.
