out of nowhere my 04 sti lost half its boost. checked intercooler and all piping for leaks and came up with nothing. car threw a wastegate solenoid code but one of the vacuum hoses that runs from the turbo to the wastegate solenoid popped of so i think thats why i came up with that code. anyone else had this problem?

 

my 03 sti is loosing boost but not as much as yours.
i've had the intercooler and tightened up everything but still got it.
next thing on my list is the small vac pipes

have you a boost gauge that could have a leak
i'm going see if i can fit a seperate gauge before the intercooler on the turbo pre intercooler (pressured side) to see if i have the correct pressure there,this should eliminate the intercooler and pipes.

has your car gone into safe mode ?????

 

how do i tell if it went into safe mode? no cel or anything. the boost gauge on the turbo timer is tight and not leaking or anything. when the check engine light came on is when the vacuum hose had already popped off. the hose that runs from the turbo to the wastegate solenoid popped off and it has full power if the hose isnt hooked up.

 

if was in safe mode then car wont rev past about 4000rpm an check engine light would come on.

 

still clueless as to why my car is doing this. someone help its only running about 7 pounds peak

 

how do you know that it threw a wastegate solenoid code if it didnt give you a CEL?

 

clean the solinoid had pro last week

 

the cel came on and i checked the code and that was the only code it threw i turned it off to see if it came on again and it hasnt. and the car runs fine and idles fine no vacuum leaks just very low boost.

 

how do you go about cleaning the solenoid?
