lambda o2 sensor question
My my93 wrx lambda has failed, it is a plug in type one with three wires, black, red, and white, in the exhaust at the front of the engine, (not in downpipie) just wondering if a later imprezas lamda will do the job of replacing it, these generally have three wires, white, white, and black, can i use one of these instead?
Yes no problem, the white wires are the heater and the black is the signal.
The heater can be connected either way round, you just need to find which one is the signal wire on your loom. This is normally the gold contact on the connector. The other 2 contacts (being the heater) are normally silver.

Yes you will need to extend the lead. I think your connector is just above the lambda near the coil pack connector. No the plugs do change, I know the Pre96 plug is different to the MY99/00 but the crimps can be released from the plug with a small screwdriver and re-inserted into the other plug.
There is a recent thread in Gen Tech with a link to the RS catalouge. RS aparently sell both type of Lambda Sensor to fit the Impreza for a fraction of the Subaru price. I'm at work at the mo, will copy the link in later. If you search for other Lambda related links in here it should'nt be to difficult to find. :-)

I'm pretty sure the red and black are the heater wires and the white wire is the signal wire.
If your buying a new Lambda i'd buy the universal Bosch LS02 lambda, they are by far better quality.

thanks heple, but i thought the oe scoob bosch ones are heated? and that would mean using an ls 04? i could be wrong though?, do these all have m18 thread? and i assume you just need to connect the scoob plug onto the wires?
cheers

As far as i'm aware LS02 is heated as its 3 wire.(Although i do notice the ebay add says otherwise)
You would need the crimp the wires together when fitting as it will not come with a plug that fits the subaru plug.
Here's a good read

On all the threads i've come across people who own classics have bought the LS02
