Turbo hesitation
I have a 52 plate WRX........For a couple of weeks now when I accelarate the turbo kicks in then kind of pauses then kicks in again...........Its as if the turbo is experiencing hesitations of some sort. The car hasnt been mod except ive put a Vortex afterburner BB and a blow off valve.............Ive changed the sparx plugs and its still doing it..........any ideas

Hi guys mine was doing exactly that turbo coming on in surges.... hit and miss..
a little boost then flat then some more kind of coming on in stages or steps.
Bloody annoying!
I have MY99 and I sorted it out by thoroughly cleaning out the boost solenoid by connecting the diagnostic plugs from under the steering wheel green to green ( not sure about other models) took away all the piping going to the solenoid and switched on ignition WITHOUT STARTING THE ENGINE!!!
just one click before starter motor (all ignition lights on). This should then work the boost solenoid (a clicking should indicate a healthy solenoid MY99)
Mine hardly made any noise at all, because it was full of oil, some muppet had over filled the engine oil and the oil had worked it's way there! Apparently a common problem!
After a good spray with brake cleaner into the moving solenoid ( put a cloth under Solenoid to catch all dirt an oil), a good solid clicking started.
Unplugged green connections plumbed the solenoid pipes back on and went for as spin.......
Problem solved..... Well pleased..... nice and solid progressive boost!
Remember this worked on mine MY99 yours may work differently!
But the boost solenoid does sound like the likely suspect!
Hope this helps!
