Default up Pipe

Hi,

So is an "up-pipe" part of the manifold sytem? is it the connecting pipe from the actual manifold and the turbo ?

Is changing this a good thing ? is there much to be gained from changing it?

Kind regards

Dave

If you have a nasty planet saving Cat in it then yes change up-pipe for a decat one to spool your turbo up quicker and release some more power. Also do the downpipe at the same time as it needs to come off to get to the up-pipe anyways. Put new gaskets on when you do it cos its a pain to get to and you dont want to do it twice.

Of course if you do run a decat system then you will more than likely fail the MOT unless you can find a friendly testing station.

A remap will see additional benefit of the new exhaust system but I dont know if you 'NEEEEED' a remap to not cause any possible damage from the mod (does that make sense... 'to not cause'?).

Actually I 'think' only 01+ WRX's have a cat in the up-pipe, no idea why coz the STi doesn't.

You will probably have downpipe and centre cat only on 93 UK WRX. Im sure someone will leap up and down if I'm wrong.

LOL cheers bud, so its probably not worth changing on my 93WRX, just stick with my original plan of downpipe and exhaust.

Dave

They are a ******* to fit and changing it on a 93 WRX will make no difference.

However they do like to split and if when you have the downpipe off it looks at all dodgy its probably worth changing as the downpipe would have to come off again to do it at a later date.

Does a 93 wrx have to pass the emission? Thought it was later models that had to pass tis test.

think its all a bit of black magic mate, depends on who you see, what systems they have? etc etc.

bottom line is, if the exact car is in the system its has to be tested to the specifed levels, if its not then the fall back chart can be used to find the levels.

Well 'leapt' in Jay m A So they only fitted downpipe cat in 93 ? doddle to decat then, what u waiting for ! lol

It's a UK wrx not a JDM... I thought UK's needed cat for MOT and JDM's were 'questionable'
