did the same on my04WRX mate, drove for a week or so pre remap, and all ok. was told to take it easy though until it was remapped. after that the 2 hour drive home was alot better . 283bhp/278lbft

how did this affect your boost??? removing the cat will allow the turbo to boost higher.....which can affect the turbo performance and life.

it will not hurt... your gas milage will get worse(running rich)
over boost is not critical.... not good, but not horrible(you may hit fuel cut if driving real hard.... just reset the ecu... i drove on mine for 4 ot 5 months in the heat of las vegas before a re map

well in my own opinion if you do de-cat a week before your re-map drive it easy.

Sparky, it will be fine, just stay off peak boost and go a bit steady until its mapped.

I fully decatted mine (an x plate classic turbo) about a month ago, and am getting a remap at the end of january, as ive been told from prosport that there is a good chance it may run a little lean, which isnt good so ive been driving quite slow (mostly ) but am looking forward to a remap (amongst other things)

By the way how is this Bob Rawle guy Heard his name mentioned loads, but i know **** all about mapping, is he close to manchester and how much would it cost for a classic?????
think prosport near me is about 600/650

No doubt a very silly question to ask but it wouldn't be my first time

With folks fully de-catting and re-mapping their Imprezas, does the end result also give a car which can still pass an MOT, or does it become beer token time with your local friendly tester..? I'm assuming the latter.

Yes lean is quite possible, not sure why RICH was mentioned above.

Bob is god of mapping IMO. You generally have to go to Swindon, but if you get in touch he can often fit you in when he is mapping around the country.

Allows better boost control. Ask you mapper, as it depends what mods you are going for IMO.

Had a full decat on mine at the same time as the remap at the clinic as recomended by the lads there. With your remap imminent, go for it! well worth getting a full decat too, just for the extra decibells
