Default How to tell if i have a PPP?

Hi,

After i had mine RR'd last week the guy was convinced it had been mapped. The only thing it could have is a PPP afaik, its a subaru ecu with the letters D8 (i think), its a Jan 98 classic. Anyway, it was mainly because it's pushing 261bhp with a revolution system and panel filter @ 1.1 bar, with plenty of fuel left to increase the boost further.

Have i just got a good car??!?!? I have the original receipt for the car from the last owner but cant see anything about ppp.

Cheers
Nicky

If its a PPP ecu it will have a pink Sti sticker on the ecu case, from what you said about the D8 i presume it hasn't. Also would have the PPP backbox and for that year of car should have a ramair air filter. Sounds to me like you don't have PPP.... but maybe the standard ecu has been remapped (take it out of teh case and see if a 'daughter board' has been soldered on (like the old power engineering phase 1s. Or it could just be somebody has wound the boost up but not remapped the ecu but it's a generous rolling road

sounds like remap as tony has said, doub't you'd see that figure on 1.1 bar though on a standard 98 without a remap

Hi,

thanks, it's a phase 1.5 ecu which you cant do anything with, i've tried lol!! I didnt see an sti sticker on it. The boost control was standard until i fitted the dawes at the weekend. It just seems strange that its running higher boost (standard is 0.9 i think) and there's plenty of fuel left for further boost.

Needless to say i'm taking it back to have it turned up next month lol. Good point about the RR, it was Wallace Performance in Aberdeen if thats any help. I've only ever had one done so not up to speed with them.

Hi,

I'm using the autogauge digital one. Not sure how accurate it is tbh....

I'll get it double checked when i'm next at the RR to see how mine compares...

ok, maybe you're right there, turned the boost up a touch on sat, hit 1.3 before on the gauge with no fuel cut!! I will have it checked out, must be more than 0.9 anyway, 40bhp is a lot for an exhaust and filter....

i'll have it measured properly when im at the rr next

Years ago that was't the case, the phase 1.5 ecu was remapped (mostly by power engineering). Take the ecu out of its case and check, the previous owner may have had this done.

(Using a standard map, full decat and dawes at 1.1bar i've seen a phase 1.5 make just over 250bhp at well lane. Just depends on how much you belive the RR figures ).

Hmmm maybe its about right then, give or take a few bhp for roller difference. Dont get me wrong i was well happy with the result, just the guy saying he was convinced it was mapped.

Will see what it makes in jan with the boost turned up as far as is safe, hoping to get it to 1.24bar hehe
