Default Anyone the Forced Performance FP Red Turbo? Claims up to 520BHP.

Hi, any views on this?

Performance - Scooby Mania

Lookign for the most powerful Turbo I can find for my 2.5 engine without having to rotate the turbo. Any comments? Anything else that can match / beat it?

Default turbo

I would have said 520bhp sounds ambitios but im sure there must have been a car that made it with one on if they advertise it at that rating. I thought the only real way to clear 500bhp was rotated. Might be worth checking out the ones below aswell.

Roger Clarke GT35 P20
MD321T
Owen Developments Garrett 475bhp

The Rodger Clarke kit is well over £1600 with the install kit and hose. Thats a bit much...

MD321T Sounds like its only good to 400-450

Im over in the USA in early Jan so could pick up an FP red for about £700.

The Owen one is up there on price aswell but Id say your geting what you pay for, wouldent skimp on price if its the right turbo. If there are people running 500 on the FP Red then well and good that seems like it could be good value.

hmm - so no one has used one?

I have sent them a message asking for some more details.

Any other USA Turbo specialists I should take a look at if im going over there?

It seems to outperform a Garret GT35:

The FP Red is about the largest you can go with a bolt-on turbo.

As yet we have not had the time to dyno one ourselves, but dyno figures we have vary between 450 and 600hp - depending on set up, fuel and dyno used.

Just to bring those above charts into context, the 35R was running 2 psi less boost than the Red (although the 35R car did have Spec C heads & cams). I think you'll agree the Red's midrange advantage is very impressive

We supply the Red with either a 8cm2 or 7cm2 ported exh housing and also 2 different turbine wheels, depending on application.

Thanks for the reply.

Does the 8cm housing make any difference to it being a drop in replacement?

Are those oil and water connection sizes mentioned the same as the standard Impreza item - i.e. it really is a drop in.

For the record what are the turbine wheel options?

You supply these from stock, or you have to source from FP or TD?

Im very interested as I can potentially pick one up when I am in the USA for $1499 + $63 UPS shipping = about £825 at the current exchange rate on a credit card.

I appreciate that you want to sell them, but not everyone visits the USA and I would imagine getting it on people's radar would help your sales...

Nope, same fitment.

The water pipes are slightly different (to clear the compressor housing) but these come with the turbo.

A good one and a better one, we suggest the later

We have a few Greens, but the last Red went out last week I believe. I will check for you.

That's a good price, as long as you don't get stung for import tax and VAT

'out performing' is very subjective, however if you look 8 posts above you will see one

I wasnt planning on asking for the bill! I can always post it to myself marked with a low value if needed.

Yeah but then if it goes missing your insurance will only cover the lower amount on the docket. Hassle if you have an issue with it and have to send it back aswell.

I will probably carry it anyway.

However you can list a different value on your postage receipt to the one on the customs form!

And the cheaper price covers round trip shipping several times over.

Well if anyone is interested in a Group Buy, let me know on this thread.

I expect FP would be interested as getting some of these installed would probably kickstart sales if those graphs are accurate!

Allegedly these are TD05/TD06 based so those claims sound quite high.

Beware of comparing USA bhp with UK bhp. I've seen those guys claim 720 Wheel HP with fuel supplied from 740cc injectors and a single walbro fuel pump
