err....... Personally I'd ditch the up-pipe cat if I had an MY02 WRX bugeye and looking for over 300BHP !! too much chance of melting the cat and throwing the bits into the turbo !!
Midlife....
with a WRX bugeye without the up-pipe cat LOL

i had my up pipe changed before having remap as they told me anything over 300 bhp on bugeye can melt the cat and send bits into my turbo. Has been known to happen. Better changing to be on safe side.

You'll notice a significant difference after the swap, and as said, there's a risk of the existing uppipe breaking up and killing the turbo, even at "only" 250bhp or so. So that's a yes.
I'd be tempted to look at various aftermarket up-pipes, but I don't know who charges what to ship to Peru.

ppl rate the Hayward & Scott slip jointed up-pipe for higher power/larger turbos.
Magnex slip-jointed are supposed to be good for TD04 wrx turbos as they have smaller inner diameter which apparently improves early spool up on the smaller turbo.
Stories exist of the solid ones cracking, and the flex joint ones splitting at the joint, bit dont know how common it is. I went for magnex on my WRX - fitting in a cpl weeks but also have a H&S which I picked up for 60quid second hand in case I fit a larger turbo in the future.
Have a search for 'heat wrap' in this forum as you may as well wrap it before fitting.
