Default Version 1 vs version 2

Hi,

Could anyone tell me what was done to the version 2 to make it 260PS instead of the 240PS on the version 1?

KR

I assume you mean WRX and not STi as STi were 250BHP and 275BHP IIRC
Basically for the increase on the WRX it was 12.7psi for 260ps and 11.47psi for 240ps.

I assume we're talking about jdm WRX's here.

It's just an ECU change. The later models had the Z4 ECU which is said by the people who know their stuff to be the best map, both from a performance and fueling point of view, for the early WRX's. The Z4 should pop into any standard saloon WRX before 1996 without problem. I had one in my jdm 1993 WRX and it was as sweet as a nut.

I've got to say, I've been here over 3 years and I have never known the answer to this. Is it really just an increase in the boost pressure for that extra 20 ps?

It just seems too simple to be true, though I am happy to accept it if it is. My '93 did not record such an increase by just swapping ECUs, though we know how volatile RRs can be.

Sorry mate, may have been a little unclear (and thanks for the welcome )

Question was whats the difference between an sti ra v1 and a sti ra v2?
I thought they ran the same power so imagined there was 'other' upgrades between an RA version 1 and an RA version 2, maybe such as brakes/suspension/ect?

Don't think there were any major differences between the two versions.
this may help Welcome to Type-RA.co.uk - Home of the Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA
