Default Subaru service advice

Hello All

Just about to take delivery of my new 07 plate scooby WRX but been hearing conflicting views down the local boozer one of my mates said "You need to get it serviced on the dot at 1000miles,3000miles then @9000miles and every 9K after that and if you don't you could have trouble."
Now cos its an import from the EU i know that i will have to register it with subaru UK to validate the warranty.

Is all this information true, please help as i am new to all this and could do with the advice..

Many Thanks in advance Paul from Leeds

hi there paul. i have just covered 11,500 on my 56 2.5 wrx and had the same thoughts as you are. i did not realise about the 1000 mile service untill 2,400 miles so had the 1000 and the 3000 as one service. only recently had the 9,000 done. i had to register the car with subaru uk so it is now recognised on there data base. when on the phone to subaru uk i quizzed them about the service intervals and they said to be on the safe side to follow what the service book says.
however, on speeking to my local dealer they say every 10k is all you need.
i have phoned subaru malta as this is where the car was shipped from and they say that the shaded parts of the service book is important to get done and that white areas of the service book is at your discretion. eg 3,000 - 14,000 - 24,000 - 33,000 and so on are not required according to malta. if you look at the back of your service book when it comes there is a service layout which shows what is inspected and requires changing. the white bits of the service as in the 3000,14000,24000,33000 and so on still require oil and filter change. to be on the safe side i would just follow the book as i have unless subaru malta can confirm in writing what i have told you. hope this helps. cheers maz
