Default Sti a bit 'lumpy' in the cold

Hi

I have an Sti PPP on an 06 plate (2.0 litre) and recently I have noticed it being a bit sluggish pulling away in first / a bit "flat". Worst when its from a full stand still, but if im trundling up to a roundabout at low speed, and accelerate once its clear it fine, its just from a stand still. Seems worse when cold (maybe thats all it is?)

maybe its just me being impatient, and now that i'm analysing it, im worrying over nothing.

Has anyone else experienced this? it now has about 8,000 miles on the clock, and I've owned it from new.

This is its first winter though, so maybe im not letting it warm up enough? anyone elses a bit rough when cold? have checked that its not the brakes binding / flat tires

cheers

Nothing to worry about M8 my 2003 version of your car does exactly the same thing. Hopefully will be a bit smoother once i've had my Remap done

also noticed this on my 2003 my STI with PPP when the colder weather kicked in. Let the car idle for a couple of minutes before pulling away, i.e. let the revs drop to their normal 800-900 rpm, rather than the 1500 or so at cold start. should then be smoother

I got a 06 STi aswell (2.0 version Blobeye).. and mine is exactly the same. (6500miles on the clock)

Nothing to worry about... make sure the aircon is off as this can amplify the issue.

I think all Impreza's seem to suffer this problem!

Default cheers chaps!

thanks for the replies, have aad a search around on the archive for similar questions since, and it seems to add up, basically the scoob is a bit of a dog in the cold, all sorts of tales of juddery clutches and flat spots. I'm well relieved, thought I had a knacker for a moment!

ECU restricts boost when engine is cold as a deliberate protection feature. Remap will usually retain this feature, does on mine. I have a nasty right turn at the end of my road and always struggle a bit when it gets cold.

I should hope you're not on boost when its cold !

My bugeye WRX is exactly the same, cold and damp sometimes get slight clutch judder. Cold, mine always has a slight reluctance to set off at low revs so I just drive like a 70yr old sunday driver till its warmed up.

Sorry wasn't suggesting I rag a cold engine just that even being careful the effect is noticeable.
