Please confirm something
I don't yet know a great deal about Impreza's, but I have something in my head that needs confirming:
You have (for example) A standard classic UK Turbo and a Standard Classic WRX of the same year. Apart from the one being an import, if you were to uprgade both turbo's to the same one, and have the ECU mapped in the same way, would they be the same power?
So what I'm trying to say is, the only difference engine wise, between the two is the turbo and mapping. Is that correct?
thanks

If were talking MY93-My96 then turbo is the same (except for WRX wagon which actually has a smaller turbo then the UK)
Mapping is similar for 93-94 but for 95-96 WRX ran 1.3psi more boost.
WRX was quoted on 100RON fuel, UK was quoted on 97RON maybe even 95RON as only the Prodrive upgrade was 97RON only.
To answer your question, an early UK is v.close but can be setup to be as fast or faster then a WRX with very simple mods.
Gearing is marginally different or v.different if the WRX is an RA.

They do have the same Turbo and mapping is very similar, but as mentioned above it depends what year your talking about.
A post Sept 1994 car will out run a UK of similar age as it runs 12.7psi instead of 11.47psi of boost, with a slightly better fuel/ignition map.
A Pre Sept 1994 car will feel quicker due to the gearing but they both run 11.47psi of boost and very similar fuel/ignition maps. The UK one being a more linear/safer map the WRX being a bit spikey.

Any of the same year for comparison.
The idea I have in my head is, with Skylines (again for example) you get a GTR and a GTS-t one is a 2.6 twin turbo and the other a 2.5 single turbo.
Those are what I would call difference between the models.
But with Scoobies, the two models, WRX and Uk Turbo are both 2.0. So the only reason I could think of one having more power than the other, is the mapping and turbo, and now the gearing. But essentially they are they same engine, whereas the Skylines are much more different.
I'm thinking about it too much, sorry to sound so confusing, but its one of them things that bugs me.
