Air box damaged after BMW moddified my 97
Hi,
A few weeks ago, a BMW decided to T bone my front off side, smacking me square on the front wheel. Yes they wrote it off, because it was over 4K to put it right. I bought my classic 97 back, for the sum of £564.00, that was including the VAT, they even dropped it back home for me. So with around 3.5K left i decided to rebuild it myself, total cost to date, £ 370.00. All reclamed parts. Even got the wing and door in my colour, which happens to be green
Parts damaged are as follows, track control arm, shock and spring, wheel hub, side flasher, anti roll bar, door and wing, have all been replaced.
Now tonight i have been out in it for the first time, since the crash, but its a right pain to start, ok once running, now the only thing i have not change is the airbox, which was also cracked quite baddly, which has been glued.
Also does not seem to pull, sort of feels lazy in picking up.
Does anyone think this air filter box, plus the cylinder thingy should be changed for a new one. To cure my problem. Also do i just by a standard scooby part or is there anything better for a classic 97, to put in its place.
Or my other thoughts is maybe i need to reset the ECU, to cure it. Noy sure on how thats done either. Have also changed the plugs, so its not a miss fire problem.
Anyway, if you can help me out id be greatful of the advice.
Thanks and regards
Douglarse.

Lionel...
As your power has been off for some time the ECU will have already been reset. If the air box was all cracked up (you didnt tell me this), then maybe the MAF is damaged. I would not drive it....not unless you want 'another' engine rebuild..
